CNU Captains Presented with 2005 VSHF Achievement Award

The Virginia Sports Hall of Fame is pleased to honor Christopher Newport University as the winner of the 2005 Virginia Sports Hall of Fame Achievement Award for the College Division. Under the leadership of Athletic Director C.J. Woollum, the Captains won 65 percent of their athletic contests overall in the 2004-05 season. This marks the sixth time in the last eight years CNU has earned the award.

Since 1996, the VSHF Achievement Awards have been presented to the Division One and College Division Institutions (Division II and III) that achieve the highest overall winning percentages in intercollegiate athletics.

The award was presented to the University by Hall of Fame Executive Director Eddie Webb prior to the tip-off of the January 28th men’s basketball game against Methodist College. Accepting the award along with Athletic Director C. J. Wollum was University President Senator Paul S. Tribble, Jr.
