Virginia Sports Hall of Fame to Celebrate JMU's Championship Season

(Portsmouth) – The Virginia Sports Hall of Fame is pleased to honor the James Madison University’s 2004 Division I-AA championship football season with a spotlight display running through the month of August.  The display, “JMU’s Championship Season,” will include photographs and other items marking the season, including the ADT National Championship Trophy on loan from the school.

“The win was a historical one for the school and the state,” says Eddie Webb, Executive Director at the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame & Museum.  “We are proud of the teams effort last year and pleased to shine the spotlight on a great accomplishment.  That’s what the Hall of Fame is all about."

The Hall of Fame is the latest addition to the many high quality family attractions in Hampton Roads.  The 35,000 square-foot facility is located in Downtown Portsmouth, directly across from the Children’s Museum of Virginia.  The new Hall includes college sports, media, Olympic, golf and Redskins exhibits, hands-on baseball, basketball, football and soccer activities, interactive games and activities, and auto racing computer simulators.  The Hall’s Digital Theater features a 16-foot high-definition screen and will be a great place to learn about Virginia’s Sports traditions and to watch special events and games live!

Established in 1972, the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame & Museum has been proud to honor Virginia’s contributions to the world of sports as the Commonwealth’s official Hall of Fame.
