Virginia Sports Hall of Fame Accepting Photographs for "Virginia Sports Images" Exhibit

The Virginia Sports Hall of Fame is seeking assistance in the development of an ongoing display of sports photography to be presented at the Hall beginning this Fall.

The idea is to capture the atmosphere of sports and recreation from around the state as documented by professional and amateur photographers. This includes pictures of professional, amateur and recreational sports, from “running on the beach to a major league catch.” Our goal is to capture, display and archive the most interesting moments of our sporting lives here in Virginia.

“Virginia Sports Images” will be displayed in our Sports Gallery, a 3,000 square foot changing exhibit gallery, as a semi-permanent display throughout the year. Images would be changed as often as possible.

What We Need
Initially we are requesting 5-10 photographs of sports and recreation. After the “seeding” of the display, we would like to have additional images sent to us from time to time to maintain a sense of sports throughout the year. We also request captions for all images submitted, especially if they were published.

What Images Qualify
Any photographs taken within the last 12 months and within the borders of the Commonwealth of Virginia.

How to Submit Images
Photos submitted for use by the Hall of Fame can be placed on disk and mailed or sent electronically. Images should be at least 300dpi at 8x10 to:

Credit for Publication
All photographers will be given credit in the display for their work. Images that have appeared in a publication will include the original caption and include credit for that publication. We request a logo of the publication to include.

Photo Rights
The Hall of Fame understands the issues surrounding the rights of use for images and will pledge not to use the images submitted other than for internal display, promotion of the exhibit and as part of applicable Hall of Fame awards programs. No images will be sold or otherwise distributed without express written consent.
