Virginia Tour Links VSHF to Supporters Across The State

Originally slated as the second leg of the Virginia Tour on October 20, 2004, the Southwest Virginia Golf Tournament at Hanging Rock Golf Club in Salem, Virginia, was a first-rate golf outing.  Despite the perpetual mist that covered the course all day, the Hanging Rock Golf Course was beautiful and the golfers enjoyed the round.

Hall of Fame inductee Sonny Wade made an appearance at the tournament, and helped Hall of Fame Executive Director Eddie Webb send off the players.  After the round, prizes were raffled off and everyone left a winner that night.

After being rained out the first time around, the Central Virginia Golf Tournament at The Hollows Golf Club went off without a hitch two weeks later on October 27, 2004.  Most teams were able to return for the rain date, and all who participated were grateful for the pleasant fall weather.

Wachovia Bank sponsored the steak dinner that followed the round of golf.  Players gathered in the banquet hall of The Hollows clubhouse and swapped stories as they enjoyed the food.  Eddie Webb introduced the attending inductees—Barty Smith, Mel Roach, Ken Willard, J. R. Wilburn, and Bill Millsaps—and extended the Hall’s gratitude to the volunteers—Leslie Wilburn, Bonnie Willard, and Tricia Dean.
