Hall of Fame Celebrity Golf TournamentSet for May 23 in Front Royal


(Front Royal, VA)  - The Virginia Sports Hall of Fame, in conjunction with Jim Stutzman Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick, are bringing the 2005 Virginia Tour Celebrity Golf Tournament to Northern Virginia and the beautiful Shenandoah Valley Golf Course in Front Royal on May 23. The Hall of Fame’s statewide Celebrity Tour is the organizations way to touch base with it’s dedicated supporters across the Commonwealth. Proceeds benefit the Hall of Fame which has just opened its new facility in downtown Portsmouth.

The Virginia Tour’s stop at Front Royal will feature dozens of inductees and well known athletes that will play with local teams in a Captain’s Choice format.  Participation includes a celebrity luncheon with gifts and door prizes, followed by a 12:30pm shotgun start. 

"The Virginia Sports Hall of Fame has held this tournament in Williamsburg for the past 11 years, says football legend Sonny Randle, a member of the Hall of Fame class of 1991. “It is always one of the best celebrity events and I am glad that it is being hosted in our area What a great opportunity for area golfers."   Sonny will be on hand to lead one of the teams on May 23rd.

The hole-in-one prize for the tournament is a Cadillac SRX presented by Jim Stutzman Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick.  Other event sponsors include The Golf Centers, Miller Brewing Company, Second Bank and Trust and Glaize Components.

The Virginia Sports Hall of Fame & Museum is now located in a brand new 35,000 square foot facility in Downtown Portsmouth.  The new Hall continues to honor Virginia's rich sports history, and now does so through interactive exhibits, multimedia presentations and hands-on activities. The family-oriented attraction features college sports, media, Olympic, golf and Redskins exhibits, hands-on baseball, basketball, football and soccer activities, interactive games and auto racing computer simulators.  The Hall of Fame also sports dedicated classroom space, a detailed, SOL coordinated education program and has meeting space for private parties and special events.  

Shenandoah Valley is a 27-hole daily fee golf course located 8 miles north of Front Royal, Virginia. Its scenic beauty is unparalleled with views of Skyline Drive and the Blue Ridge and Massanutten mountain ranges from every hole.
