Scout Badge Program Descriptions:
Tiger Cubs:
Achievement 3D, Keeping Myself Healthy and Safe (The Food Pyramid and Balanced Diets)
Use the Food Pyramid to learn how to choose a balanced diet and make healthy snack choices. Discuss ways to identify triggers that cause us to make poor food choices.
Elective 23, What Kind of Milk?
What’s your favorite flavor of milk? Learn about the effect that milk and calcium have on the body. Discuss and taste various types of milk.
Elective 25, Snack Time
We all like to eat snacks! Learn to choose healthy snack options that are easy to make and fun to share with family and friends.
Bear Cubs:
Achievement 9, What’s Cooking?
Can cookies and desserts really be healthy for me? Come and find out! See for yourself the effect that fat and sugar from fast and junk foods have on our bodies and discover some healthy snack options.
Wolf Cubs:
Achievement 8, Cooking and Eating
Use the food pyramid to find out how to make a healthy, balanced meal anytime of the day. Also make a plan for two meals that you will help prepare at home.
Webelos:
Fitness
What does fitness mean? It means being healthy and in good physical and mental shape. This program teaches scouts how to plan a meal using the food pyramid, understand the importance of portion control and read food labels. Also learn how to make a healthy snack!
Boy Scouts:
Cooking
Plan a menu including making an ingredient shopping list, figuring cost per person and appropriate portion sizes. Also learn healthy options for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack time.
Physically Strong
There are many aspects that make up a strong, healthy body. From drinking plenty of water to protecting yourself from alcohol and drugs, this program shares various tips to keep you heart healthy.
