Saturday, November 5th was gametime at the Hall of Fame as hundreds of gamers and spectators gathered to take part in the first ever Hall of Fame Video Game Tournament.
More than 70 people were lined up outside when the gates opened for the Madden 06 Tournament, run by GameStop and sponsored by COX, FM 99 and Rent-a-Center.
14 Game stations featuring Madden06 were set up in the Sports Gallery as the tournament kicked off at 10am. 181 players took their turns, vying to be the first in Hampton Roads to get their hands on a new Xbox 360. But just about everyone walked away with games, t-shirts, demos, and other prizes.
The final three contestants duked it out on the digital field in stytle as the last matches were played on the Hall's 16 foot screen in the COX Digital Theater.
At left you see runner up Brian Palmer and the winner, Clarence Harrell (with GameStop Tournament Director DJ Allen). Despite a last minute recovered onside kick, the final game ended with the Cowboys beating the Redskins 24-17.
